where design + flavor intersect
Welcome! I'm Michele and I'm a formally-trained fashion designer turned cookie designer. Here's a bit of of my backstory...
My passion for baking began at about age 10 during summers spent with Grandma Gina in Queens, NY making delectable desserts like marble cake, chocolate chip poundcake and Grandma's famous pink applesauce.
My mom, Marian, wasn't much of a baker. Let's just say she didn't spend a lot of time in the kitchen... However, she was famous for encouraging any activities that involved creativity. So, there were always tons of crafty projects happening, which helped me develop my artistic skills. Mom had a 'no treats in the house' policy, but I soon figured out a work-around, insisting that baking was creative, and didn't she want us to be creative?? She ultimately said I made a great case, and I as a result I proceeded to bake up homemade treats at every opportunity. However, pantry ingredients were limited, so snickerdoodles were the go-to...
Later on, as a freelance apparel designer in San Francisco, I started making cookies as client gifts. And as word spread, I was commissioned to do wedding favors and other custom cookies. When it came time to name the business, I looked to my beloved Wheaten Terrier, Lucky, who was known to nip feet on occasion.
What i really love is how luckybites merges my design skills with my love of baking. The foundation of my philosophy is that form and flavor are of equal importance, so I'm constantly considering the 'user experience' and how to maximize taste, as well as presentation.
I maintain several brand partnerships in the social media space, and am an editor at Feedfeed.
When I'm not in the kitchen, I love gardening, yoga and riding my beach cruiser around West Palm Beach, FL.
